When selling any product online or using a brochure, you need to impress people with something attractive to look at, to keep the viewers attention long enought to get them to consider the product or service you are trying to sell. To find suitable images, the best option is to buy stock photos relevant to your product that are eye-catching to potential customers.

Stock photos are available online and for very little money. The hardest part is to sift through the millions of images available to find ones that fit your project. Sometimes you may need to hire a professional photographer for a specific shot, but most of the time stock photography available from place like Fotolia will be much cheaper and work just as well. The goal is to find exactly the image you need to convey the message and emotion you want. Stock photography (sometimes call microstock) is available for almost every subject, from weddings to business meeting. One of the hardest things about using and creating royalty-free stock photography is finding where your images are used. I have found several of my images in random places, like medical journals and billboard is other cities. Online this can sometimes be possible using the Yahoo Site Explorer.

I found a link to this justice stock photo named "Choice" on a domestic violence website. By going to the Yahoo Site Explorer I was able to find this link using the following line in the site explorer http://www.crestock.com/image/1230168-Choice.aspx select the "Exclude this domain" option.

We are pleased to announce the integration of royalty free images from the Microstock Agency StockFresh. They will be adding 100,000 images and we hope to see many more coming soon. Our robot has already started indexing the results and about 30% are being matched with images from other agencies. This is good news because StockFresh still sells stock photos for $1 for blog/web image users. So hopefully you can find the image you want at and agencies that is still cheap. Other microstock used to do that but most of the larger agencies have raised their prices. Especially iStockPhoto and Dreamstime, it is hard to get the cheaper price for popular images (on Dreamstime, the price of a photo goes up as the number of downloads goes up. Some images are $5 or more for the smallest size because they are very popular).

Every since discovering stock photography several years ago, I find that I never create anything graphical without at least considering putting a stock photo in. If you serve around military and are intested in shooting some stock, look at these crazy military photos - it's safe to say, there are odd people in the military, regardless of which country they serve. after the jump are several quirky shots.

Take a look at some of the army stock photo & navy images available on ImageTrail. There are some that are good and some that we would like to see replaced, but if you are looking for this type of image, there is plenty to choose from.

I am super happy to announce the we have introduced a new agency to ImageTrail. Pixmac images will begin to appear in our system within the next couple of days. This is a great achievement and we are glad they have worked to provide the APIs needed to make this possible.

Update: The integration has begun. Take a look at this stock image of the Tefillin that our robot matched with Dreamstime version of the same image. That is what ImageTrail is seeking to do is give buyers more options.

In sad news, we have had to temporarily remove Fotolia image results from our site. They no longer allow us to cache the stock photos found through their API. Our system relies on cached results to compare image to each other. We are researching a new way to bring back their images because to be honest they have one of the best referral programs out there.
