ImageTrail is a search engine that lists images for agencies and photographers from
around the world. Pricing for images indexed by ImageTrail vary greatly by the source
agency. Below are some guidelines for pricing, but are meant to be estimates. In
general, the best way to find the exact price of an image is to visit the source
page by clicking the Download / Buy link on the image page.
There is no obligation to buy when clicking. You will also be able to see the details
about the royalty free licensing.
Pricing Basics
 Each
agency has a similar way of selling images. Most use the systems of credits
to translate many of the worlds currencies into a way to buy images. At most agencies
1 credit is approximately the value of $1 US dollar. This is higher on some older
agencies like Dreamstime. On most websites if you buy larger credit packages (a
set of credits) you will get a discount. For example on Fotolia's website, you'll

Most agencies sell multiple resolutions (or sizes) of each images. This is where
those involved in websites and blogs get to save money. Typically images that are
used on the web are less than 800px and are often sold for $1-$2. Individuals designing
for print such as brochures, magazine and billboards will need much largers images
which typically cost $8-15 USD. Again the power of ImageTrail is in the price comparison
of different agencies. We recommend you gather a group of your favorite images into
a lightbox and then look at the prices of each at the source agency in order to
determine the best image for your budget.

Dreamstime.com uses a sliding scale for images. The more often it is purchased
the more expensive it becomes. Each credit costs about $1.25 when buying 8
credits. Large discount apply to bulk credit purchases.
